Philip Rivers, one of the most beloved, enduring and at times vexing figures in San Diego sports history, could be playing his final game with the Chargers on Sunday when the team wraps up its season in Kansas City.
While it would be unsurprising if the San Diegan returns to the Chargers for the 2020 season, as he said last week he would like to do, he’s not under contract for next season and turned 38 earlier this month.
Rivers would reach free agency for first time in March absent a new contract with the Chargers, his lone employer in a career that began 15 years ago in San Diego.
