Padres juju gripped Philip Rivers at the worst time last week, as the quarterback tried to drive the Chargers to a winning field goal against the Raiders.
The San Diegan tried for home runs yet repeatedly struck out, much like this year’s Padres, who whiffed their way to a club-record 1,581 Ks, most in the National League.
While Rivers had successes Thursday night such as tossing a go-ahead pass with four minutes left, the final two series were bizarrely futile.
Rivers kept chucking the ball far, without connecting.
All eight plays on the final possession were incomplete passes.
