Now that every NFL team has played at least half its schedule, let’s take a quick look at the second quarter’s top performers. Then, a glance ahead.
Kudos to the 49ers, Vikings and Saints of the NFC, who all went 4-0 last quarter. (Minnesota’s loss Sunday at Kansas City came in its ninth game.)
The 49ers dominated, winning by an average score of 27-11. Their defense, amassing 17 sacks and allowing a measly 4.1 yards per pass attempt, overwhelmed opponents. Jimmy Garoppolo’s improved quarterbacking was another bright spot.
An AFC team that went 4-0 last quarter, though, gets the brightest gold star.
