Column: It’s business as usual for NFL ... and that should be OK

The NFL may be penny foolish, but it’s pound wise.

And, in this incredible moment in time, it’s a monstrous monopoly being Mensa-smart, blatantly, defiantly sticking out its jaw. Go ahead and take your best shot. It’s not glass.

The League has tried to become its own judicial system, its own branch of government, attempted to get away with everything — often failing, ticking people off, but more often succeeding. And always undeterred, stomping through the minefield.

As America’s game, the gambler’s game, it’s had us hunkered down for years. It will tell you to your face that it cares.
