CARSON —
Cut Philip Rivers a wee bit of slack Sunday for his many comments about his NFL future, because the heavy questions the Chargers quarterback answered came just minutes after the 24-17 loss to the Raiders in the Carson finale.
Still decompressing and mindful of next week’s season finale at Kansas City, Rivers said he’ll have a better sense in mid-January of what he wants to do.
But in his strongest statements yet on the topic, Rivers said he still believes in himself at age 38 despite a high turnover total this year, and he implied he’d like to return with the Chargers, the only NFL team to employ him since he came to San Diego via a draft-day trade in 2004.
