City & county representatives brief NFL on stadium

SAN DIEGO (CNS) - The city and county of San Diego's stadium negotiators are scheduled to meet with a group of National Football League owners Monday to make the pitch for a proposed stadium to keep the Chargers in town.

Also Monday, a draft environmental report on the project site in Mission Valley is expected to be released.

The Chargers have been wanting a new stadium for nearly 15 years and have acquired land in Carson, near Los Angeles, where the team could build its own facility, possibly in concert with the Oakland Raiders.

The city and county responded with a plan for a $1.
