No replacement for Keenan Allen, an elite NFL wide receiver, can be found on the street in September.
There is no harm in looking, however, at options to help supplement the position.
The Chargers worked out two wide receivers Tuesday, evaluating Chris Givens and Griff Whalen. Their visit to San Diego came one day after Allen was placed on injured reserve following a torn anterior cruciate ligament he suffered Sunday in a season-opening loss to the Chiefs.
No signing was processed prior to Tuesday's 1 p.m. close of league business.
That does not keep the Chargers, though, from theoretically signing a player if they choose.
