Following the Rams’ victory over the Vikings in Monday’s wild card round finale, the Chargers will now officially hold the No. 22 pick in this year’s NFL draft.
This will be the seventh time since 2000 the Chargers will have their first pick in the draft at No. 20 or later and the first time since 2023 when they selected Quentin Johnston with the No. 21 overall pick out of TCU.
The No. 22 overall pick has been a mixed bag this century. The best pick at the spot since 2000 is undoubtedly wide receiver Justin Jefferson (Vikings, 2020) while other recent picks such as cornerback Quinyon Mitchell (Eagles, 2024) and wide receiver Zay Flowers (Ravens, 2023) also look very promising early on.
