Chargers to sign WR James Jones

James Jones saw Philip Rivers throw for 503 yards in Green Bay last season.

Now, he'll be on the other side.

The former Packer was one of three free-agent wide receiver to work out for the Chargers on Tuesday. He was chosen to be signed afterward, sources said. Lance Moore and Brian Hartline also were evaluated, as the team worked to add veteran depth at the position following a Sunday knee injury to Stevie Johnson.

Rivers became the 10th NFL player this decade to surpass 500 passing yards in a game.

While it came in a losing effort, the Week 4 performance no doubt was memorable.
