SAN DIEGO -- According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan, the San Diego Chargers have agreed to terms with inside linebacker Joe Mays.
At 5-foot-11 and 244 pounds, the eight-year veteran recently worked out for the Cleveland Browns. He was cut by the New York Jets in September.
Mays, 30, visited San Diego during free agency, but ultimately signed with the Jets.
The Chargers are in need of depth at linebacker with starter Manti Te’o missing the past two games with an ankle injury, and his replacement -- rookie Denzel Perryman -- suffering a strained biceps against the Oakland Raiders over the weekend.
