SAN DIEGO (CBS 8) - The San Diego Chargers announced that they will pursue a stadium project in downtown San Diego, rejecting the proposed replacement for Qualcomm Stadium in Mission Valley.

The Chargers say the decision comes after weeks of evaluating leading San Diego stadium sites as well as meetings with city and county officials.
The San Diego Chargers posted the following statement:
We have spent the last month evaluating the leading San Diego stadium sites and financing proposals.
