Chargers take back-to-basics approach to improving O-line play

SAN DIEGO – Sometimes teams make changes just for the sake of change.

Former San Diego Chargers offensive line coach Joe D'Alessandris was considered one of the best at his craft. However, D’Alessandris was one of six San Diego assistants fired by head coach Mike McCoy at the end of a disappointing 4-12 season.

A hard-working task master who focused on preparing players to play multiple positions at practice in case of injury, the Chargers determined it was time to move on from D'Alessandris and bring in a fresh perspective for the position group.

Enter new offensive line coach Jeff Davidson and assistant offensive line coach Dave DeGuglielmo.
