On Thursday afternoon, the Chargers announced the signing of former BYU tight end Isaac Rex. Rex worked out for the team on Wednesday and it apparently went well as both sides put pen to paper a day later. In a corresponding move, the Chargers released defensive lineman Micheal Mason.
Rex was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Detroit Lions earlier this year. He player five seasons at BYU where he hauled in 112 receptions for 1,385 yards and 24 touchdowns. His best season came during the 2020 campaign where he caught 37 passes for 479 yards and 12 touchdowns.
