In the first transaction made by interim general manager JoJo Wooden, the Chargers are signing quarterback Will Grier off of the Patriots practice squad. Grier will be placed on the active roster in a move which will likely place him as the team’s backup for the remainder of the 2023 season.
Grier spent two seasons (2021-2022) with the Dallas Cowboys as the team’s third-string quarterback behind Dak Prescott and Cooper Rush. During that time, he got acquainted with then-offensive coordinator Kellen Moore which is likely the main reason the Chargers went and made this signing.
