On Tuesday afternoon, the Chargers officially announced the signing of both linebacker Blake Lynch and wide receiver Jalen Reagor to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, the Chargers released tight end Luke Benson and cornerback Nehemiah Shelton.
Reagor was most recently with the Patriots in 2023 where he mainly played on special teams and returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown. Lynch was a core special teams player for the Chargers in 2023 and will likely fill that same role with numerous special teams contributors currently out with injuries.

The decision to sign Reagor likely comes from the coaching staff attempting to infuse some competition in the return game.
