Chargers sign former Alabama and Birmingham Iron long snapper Cole Mazza

On Tuesday evening, the Los Angeles Chargers announced the signing of Cole Mazza, a former long snapper for the Alabama Crimson Tide and most recently, the Birmingham Iron of the now defunct Alliance of American Football.

While in the AAF, Mazza snapped for former Chargers kicker Nick Novak. In the team’s eight weeks, they converted 13 of 16 field goals (81.3 percent). At Alabama, where he played from 2013-16, Mazza snapped the ball over 583 times without a single mistake.

I’m not sure what to make of the signing other than bringing in competition for long-time long snapper Mike Windt.
