On Monday afternoon, the Chargers announced the signing of cornerback Nehemiah Shelton to the practice squad. In a corresponding move, the team is releasing cornerback Matt Hankins.

Shelton is a former undrafted free agent who signed with the Jets following the 2023 NFL Draft. He spent the 2023 season entirely on the practice squad and was in New York this summer once again for training camp.
