SAN DIEGO – They waited until the third round, but the San Diego Chargers finally addressed injury issues the team experienced along the offensive line in 2015 in this year’s draft, selecting USC center Max Tuerk with the No. 66 selection in the third round. Chargers head coach Mike McCoy said that Tuerk will compete with incumbent Chris Watt for the starting job at center.
“We’re going to compete at every position,” McCoy said. “That’s the best thing about it. And that’s one big reason why we brought him in here, is to compete for the job.”
My take: A two-year starter at center and a team captain, Tuerk roomed with quarterback Cody Kessler at USC.
