According to the team’s official website, the Chargers have released safety Darrell Stuckey failed physical designation. Stuckey hurt his knee in the 2016 season finale against the Kansas City Chiefs and was placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list to begin training camp. He turned 30 years old in June.
Stuckey was set to make a base salary of $2.9 million in 2017, per Spotrac.com. He was in the final year of his four-year, $7.6 million deal.
General manager Tom Telesco commented on Stuckey’s departure:
“You couldn’t ask for a better person to represent the organization than Darrell, and we want to sincerely thank him not only for what he has meant to the Chargers, but for what he has meant to the community as a whole.
