SAN DIEGO - In somewhat of a surprise move, the San Diego Chargers announced the team released veteran receiver James Jones as the team works to get down to 75 players before Tuesday's deadline.
The Chargers signed Jones to a one-year deal earlier this month as a potential replacement to Stevie Johnson, lost for the season with a meniscus tear in his right knee that required surgery.
However, Jones played in a West Coast offense his entire, 10-year career, and had concerns about picking up the new verbiage in offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt's scheme.
