Chargers GM Tom Telesco confirmed that they plan to place LB Denzel Perryman on injured reserve in the coming days after he previously underwent surgery for an ankle injury.
However, teams can only place players who are on their initial 53-man roster on injured reserve in order for them to be eligible to return later on in the season.
According to Telesco, they plan to have Perryman back at some point this year, which means he won’t be put on I.R. until Monday.
“He just had surgery last week so it’s slow right now, but the plan with him is that he’d come back at some point during the year,” Telesco said, via Chargers.
