The Chargers on Monday placed wide receiver Stevie Johnson (knee) and nose tackle Sean Lissemore (shoulder) on injured reserve.
The move with Johnson was expected. He injured his knee on the second day of training camp and underwent surgery last week. Lissemore was trying to recover from a shoulder injury that forced him onto IR in 2015.
The Chargers also announced waived cornerback Carrington Byndom and signed three players to the active roster: Defensive tackle Kamal Johnson and linebackers Zack Hodges and James Vaughters.
Johnson has spent time with Washington and Miami, Hodges with Indianapolis and the Los Angeles Rams, and Vaughters with New England and Green Bay.
