Chargers Park is drawing keen interest

A number of San Diego city departments are “keenly interested” in moving into Chargers Park, a 14-acre complex that will come open this summer, a city official said last week during the Qualcomm Stadium Advisory Board meeting.

The Chargers have until July 31 to leave the two-story, three-field facility north of Mission Valley.

Easing the exit, movers won’t have to fret about leaving behind any Lombardi trophies.

Stadium manager Mike McSweeney told board members that private entities, not just public ones, are eager to occupy the site on Murphy Canyon Road where footballs have flown for 20 years.
