Good morning.
In a procedural move, the Chargers officially terminated the team’s lease at Qualcomm Stadium this week, David Garrick of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
The Chargers announced their intention to exercise their option to move to Los Angeles three weeks ago. The team’s lease with the City of San Diego ran through the 2020 season, and includes the use of city-owned land for the team’s practice facility at nearby Chargers Park.
The Chargers paid San Diego $12.575 million for breaking the lease early.
My take: The move officially brings an end to the team’s 56 years in San Diego.
