Good morning.
Scott Lewis of the Voice of San Diego provides some clarity on the San Diego Chargers announcing the franchise would pursue the team’s preferred option of building a new stadium downtown.
According to Lewis, the announcement means the Chargers will support a citizens’ initiative process for a hotel-room tax hike and land-use plan put together by local attorney Cory Briggs and JMI Realty.
The tax hike is an increase to the transient occupancy tax. The city currently levies a 10.5 percent tax on hotel room bills. The initiative would raise that to 15.
