Helm came to the Chargers as an undrafted free agent out of Duke and some gave him an outside chance of landing on the team’s 53-man roster. The Chargers have an opportunity at the position behind Hunter Henry and Virgil Green, but the team didn’t see Helm as a potential fit.
He will now look to catch on with another team.
To replace him on the current 90-man roster, the Chargers signed defensive tackle Dee Liner. No, that’s not some sort of weird moniker for a defensive lineman, it’s the man’s name.
