It’s been a little over a week since the Chargers hired former Rams defensive coordinator Brandon Staley to be their new head coach and he’s already finalized his coaching staff, hiring his third and final coordinator in Renaldo Hill, who will take over as DC after coaching defensive backs with the Broncos.
Hill joins former Saints quarterbacks coach Joe Lombardi as offensive coordinator and Derius Swinton II who takes over special teams.
Each coordinator has a specific tie to Staley, with all three having been on the same team at one point or another. Hill was with Staley underneath then-DC Vic Fangio with the Bears, Lombardi was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at Mercyhurst College while Staley was a player there, and Swinton spent time with Staley in Chicago when the former was an assistant special teams coordinator.
