The Chargers did Thursday what they do, taking one of the more dominant starts to a game they’ve had this season — which is saying something, giving starting has not been their issue — and disrupting it with something screwy.
Wide receiver Travis Benjamin waved his arms on a punt return, signaling teammates to avoid contact with a bouncing ball. And then he made contact, said ball bouncing into his ankle to gift the Broncos possession at the Chargers’ 11.
Naturally.
Then, the Chargers did something they haven’t done. With help from their defense and rookie class, they overcame.
