In the way of massive news you probably weren’t following closely until this week, the NFL was ruled to owe $4.7 billion in damages after a jury ruled that the league violated antitrust laws in distributing out-of-market Sunday afternoon games on the subscription service.
To make it even worse, the amount owed by the NFL could be tripled under federal antitrust laws, raising the total to upwards of $14 billion.
The NFL later said they would appeal the decision in an official statement:
“We are disappointed with the jury’s verdict today in the NFL Sunday Ticket class action lawsuit.
