Over the weekend, the NFL and their coronavirus testing partner, a lab in New Jersey called BioReference, were a part of a significant mishap that included over 77 tests that were deemed “false positives.”
Up to this point in training camp, the positive rate among NFL players has consistently been under 1%. When a significant increase in positive tests appeared on Saturday, it obviously raised some alarms. Incredibly, after a second point of testing to confirm these results, every single one of the initial positives came back negative.
While that’s obviously good news, it does raise alarms about the current reliability of the labs process.
