SAN DIEGO – With the last of the team’s eight picks in this year’s draft, the San Diego Chargers selected versatile Michigan State defensive lineman Donavon Clark. Chargers offensive line coach Jeff Davidson worked out Clark at his pro day.
My take: At 6-4 and 315 pounds, Clark played left tackle, right tackle and right guard for the Spartans, so he offers flexibility for the Chargers. Clark was a third-team, All-Big Ten selection last season. A two-year starter, in 47 games Clark started 33 of those for the Spartans. Clark finished his career at Michigan State with 27 consecutive starts, so he’s durable.
