Chargers coach Mike McCoy lauded Melvin Gordon for handling a far heavier workload this season, allowing the team to better cope with the losses of running backs Danny Woodhead and Branden Oliver to season-ending injury.
The coach said Monday that rookie Kenneth Farrow showed well on two carries in the recent game and may warrant more work, but said also that Gordon, 23, has held up very well physically.
“Mel’s worked extremely hard to get to where he is today; he’s in great shape,” McCoy said after reviewing film of the 33-30 victory at Atlanta.
