Tonight is the night for Giff Smith to lead the Chargers out onto the field for the first time acting as a head coach in the NFL. Just eight days after the Chargers fired Brandon Staley, the long-time Chargers assistant has gotten the nod to lead the team through the final three weeks of the season.
Defensive coordinator Derrick Ansley will now get the opportunity to call the plays for the defense, as well. Earlier this week, Ansley said that him and Staley have “two different minds” while alluding that there might be one or two differences fans will notice when his unit takes the field.
