On Friday, NFL insider Aaron Wilson reported that the Chargers are activating cornerback Ryan Smith from the reserve-COVID-19 list. Smith has been on the list for the entire preseason and his activation comes just in time for the team’s first actual “game week”.
Smith was signed by the Bolts via free agency earlier this year after he spent the previous four seasons with the Buccaneers. A noted special teams contributor in Tampa Bay, Smith will be asked to fill a similar role in Los Angeles while simultaneously being able to play some meaningful snaps on defense, as well.
