Micheal Mason is a native of Florence, South Carolina and starred at South Florence High School. He posted 100+ tackles in three consecutive seasons, all of which earned him an All-Region honor. As a senior, he capped his career with 119 tackles and 14 sacks. Over his final two seasons, he recorded 241 tackles and 25 sacks. After a productive career that somehow did not turn into many big collegiate offers, Mason chose to continue his career at Wofford University.
Mason broke out in his first season on campus with 10.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks en route to being named a Second-Team All-Southern Conference honoree despite starting just two games for the Terriers.
