Mike Scifres has been a Charger since 2004.
He has fired 756 punts, most of which weren't returned. He has flipped fields. He's changed games.
And now, his tenure may soon be at an end.
The Chargers are expected to go younger and cheaper at punter in 2016. On Saturday, they took Texas A&M's Drew Kaser in the sixth round. He is a former college teammate of Josh Lambo, who replaced Nick Novak last year when the Chargers went younger and cheaper at kicker.
Kaser is 23. Scifres turns 36 in October.
Kaser will cost about $500,000 against the 2016 salary cap.
