Can NFL touchdown leader Melvin Gordon close for Chargers?

SAN DIEGO – There’s no question that Melvin Gordon is an improved player in his second season.

After failing to find the end zone during his rookie year, the Wisconsin product is leading the league in touchdowns with six.

Unlike last season, Gordon has been used and effective near the goal line.

According to ESPN’s Mike Clay, Gordon leads the NFL with four carries from the opponent’s 1-yard line, scoring on all four attempts. Gordon also leads the league with 11 carries within 10 yards of the end zone, with all six of his touchdowns coming from within 6 yards of the goal line.
