When their season resumes Sunday, the Chargers will go against the NFL’s top-scoring offense.
The Atlanta Falcons (4-2) are first not only in points per game (33.2) but also yards per play (6.9) and pass plays of 25-plus yards (19).
“Some of the numbers they’re putting up, are like a video game,” Chargers tight end Antonio Gates said.
Oddsmakers have made Atlanta a 6.5-point favorite to win at the Georgia Dome (1:05 p.m. Pacific) in the teams’ first meeting since 2012.
Gates said Atlanta’s “explosive” attack will increase the onus on the San Diego offense to be “very cautious” about turning the ball over.
