Observations from Day 4 of Chargers training camp:
By golly, the activities resembled football.
Players wore pads and collided in “half line” run-game drills.
In 11 on 11s, young defenders Dexter McCoil and Nick Dzubnar dished out clean, hard hits to pass-catchers.
A day after the open date, it was the most physical practice of camp.
McCoil’s hit, which jarred the ball from receiver Isaiah Burse at the goal-line, didn’t go over well with coach Mike McCoy and several offensive linemen.
Though a safety, Dwight Lowery deemed the hit “unnecessary” and chatted up McCoil, who played in the Canadian league last year.
