Chargers blockers came off as softies last year when Broncos bully Von Miller jawed with Philip Rivers and not one Rivers protector intervened.
They dawdled because none of them saw the dust-up, which happened after a pass, late in a game that Miller's defense had dominated.
The excuse mattered not to the critics.
Bolts blockers should've seen Miller. Their job is to protect the Franchise at all times.
And if they had seen Miller messing with Rivers, well, a strong shove was in order. Or, more than a strong shove.
So it was heartening on Wednesday to see Tyreek Burwell play the role of big guy protecting little guy, in this case a Bolts receiver who'd taken a hard hit that some folks, including coach Mike McCoy, deemed excessive for training camp.
