Science was stirred in with heavy emotion Saturday at a San Diego symposium on football head injuries organized by the sister of Junior Seau, the former Chargers star linebacker and NFL Hall of Famer who died in 2012.
Tiaina Seau Sr. and Luisa Seau, Junior’s parents, spoke extensively in public for the first time since their son’s suicide at the age of 43, and it was his mother who put much of the room of 150 people in tears with her emotional thanks for support and her singing of a Polynesian family hymn.
