This is my first post, so be gentle.
Dad got season tickets to the Bolts’ first year at Balboa stadium. We still have ’em-different stadium, but still… Watching Lincoln, Lowe, Karas, Faison and so many others run around that Jr. College Stadium was my highlight every week (not the best elementary school student.) We’d park at a dry cleaners and walk seven blocks uphill to the stadium. No bag checks, no wanding for weapons, just present the ticket, have half of it ripped off and you’re in!! My mom, my dad and I sat on cement bench seats a few seats down from Mickie Finn and her husband (they owned the bar that supplied the touchdown cannon, sometimes accidentally pointed toward the players as they scored…fun to watch!
