It’s imperative for football teams to start fast each and every week. You want to be the first side to punch the other in the mouth before they even have the chance to get comfortable. Usually this is in the way of a quick touchdown drive off a big play or some kind of turnover that quickly extinguishes all those flames built up pregame.
Having players who know how to ignite those kinds of moments is key. The Chargers, at least the past few seasons, have been akin to a team of two halves. Some games they’ll start hot, play a complete first half, only to see everything come crashing down in the second (see 2022 playoff debacle).
