In this Chargers news and rumors update, the San Diego Chargers could very well be without tight end Antonio Gates on Monday in their season-opening contest against the Arizona Cardinals.
Per Mike Florio of NBC's Pro Football Talk, "the team’s final injury report lists Gates as questionable with a hamstring injury. The injury apparently happened during practice on Saturday. For Thursday and Friday, Gates didn’t appear on the report. Saturday, he participated on a limited basis."
If Gates is held out, TE Ladarius Green would be privy to several more opportunites. He is already currently listed as the team's second starting tight end on the depth chart.
Other Chargers players currently listed as questionable are S Jahleel Addae (hamstring), DE Lawrence Guy (shoulder), DT Sean Lissemore (ankle), and LB Manti Te’o (foot).
Stay tuned to Chat Sports for the latest on Gates' condition as additional information is made available.
