Dear Readers,
Today, I join many of the internet's top sites in a blackout against two big pieces of legislation that are currently on the floor of both the US House of Representatives and the US Senate. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect IP Act (PIPA) threaten everyone whose livelihood has come to depend on the internet, from Wikipedia to Reddit to bloggers like me, who could essentially lose intellectual property rights should these bills make it through.
I highly recommend that you read more about these two bills, and encourage you to contact your representatives in protest. For both, you are welcome to visit sopastrike.com, where you will find everything that you need.
With all that said, the content that I promised you on Monday is all ready for publishing, so I promise you that if you come back tomorrow, it will be there. For now though, please use the time that you would otherwise spend reading my article to educate yourself about this threat to our internet freedoms and to inform your local congressman/senator that you cannot support these bills.
Again, the web central for this protest is sopastrike.com
All the best, and I will see you all tomorrow,
Chris Eggemeyer
