With the third overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, the San Diego Chargers have selected Ohio State DE Joey Bosa.
Position: Defensive End/OLB
Measurables: 6’5’’, 269 pounds, 4.86 40-yard dash, 24 bench press reps, 33 3/8 arm length
Analysis:
Bosa is best as a 4-3 DE, but there are concerns about his ability to play as a 3-4 OLB. He’s not big enough to be a 3-4 DE and not quick enough to handle 3-4 OLB coverage abilities. That could hurt his stock with 3-4 teams and might not be a double-digit sack machine, but Bosa should still be a Top 10 pick with a long NFL career. Bosa looks like quality starting DE, but he’s more Ryan Kerrigan than J.J. Watt.
