ANAHEIM – On the day they had hoped to begin the Stanley Cup Final, Ducks left winger Patrick Maroon and goaltender Frederik Andersen gave up hockey, briefly, for baseball.
They donned Angels warmup shirts, shorts and red Nikes and took batting practice on the field four hours before the Angels played Tampa Bay on Wednesday night at Angel Stadium.
Maroon, 27, whiffed past a few pitches, fouled off a half dozen more and eventually connected to belt some groundballs, pop flies and line drives into the shallow outfield.
