HOUSTON -- Angels slugger Justin Upton departed Saturday's game against the Astros in the sixth inning after sliding awkwardly to avoid a collision with shortstop Andrelton Simmons in left field.
The Astros had runners on second and third with two outs in the fifth when George Springer skied a popup to shallow left field. Simmons ran straight back and covered 71 feet to snag the ball, preserving the Angels' 3-1 lead, but Upton went down hard as he tried to get out of the way.
Upton initially stayed in the game and took his at-bat against Brad Peacock in the sixth.
