ANAHEIM – Their backs to the same wall they have been against for weeks, the Angels certainly aren’t playing tight or scared these days.
Johnny Giavotella and Mike Morin, a couple of players who don’t yet have much on their major league résumé, demonstrated their fearless aggression to spark the Angels to a 3-2 victory over the Seattle Mariners on Sunday afternoon.
With their fifth straight victory, the resurgent Angels remained a half-game behind the Houston Astros in the wild card race, with seven games to go.
Although the latest victory was scattered with heroes – Jered Weaver pitching five innings with a sore shoulder, another homer for David Freese, five outs from reliever Cory Rasmus – the game turned because of Giavotella and Morin.
