ANAHEIM -- The White Sox had pitched Mike Trout carefully, walking him six times in nine plate appearances during the first two games of their series at Angel Stadium, but they couldn't contain the Angels' star center fielder on Wednesday.
Trout blasted a 3-1 cutter from veteran right-hander James Shields to left-center field for a solo home run that gave the Angels a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Trout's 27th homer of the season had an exit velocity of 105.3 mph and traveled an estimated 374 feet, according to Statcast™.
Trout is now 5-for-14 (.
